Imagine if this was the Thanksgiving dinner we actually ate.. I wouldn’t leave my sisters feeling like a ton of concrete.
That being said we had a bunch of great food pictured is “Amuse Bouche” of our dinner. Stay tuned for great recipes from that dinner. Jason fried the turkeys they were amazing but that led to not having pan drippings for gravy so try as I may the giblet gravy was lacking. I learned you really need the drippings from an oven roasted turkey to make good gravy. Alys stuffing was outstanding as it always is. Aunt Lisa makes the best cranberry relish, the brussel sprouts are a tried and true all time winner. Jason’s mashed potatoes are legendary. I am hoping to get the insight into them to post on the site. Ryan made green bean casserole from the recipe on the side of a can and added hatch green chile’s and those who dared try it said they liked it. My nephew Brendan made bacon wrapped jalepenos stuffed with herbed cheese that were crazy good but were like a lottery either super hot or nicely heated.
I acknowledge I am not a touchy feely person but I think the winner of the day was my Sister’s idea to have place cards for everyone in attendance. Long before we ate she asked everyone to write something about the person on the card. While we ate we passed our card to the person to the left and they read a few of the comments left about the person on the card. It was a really great way to share things we appreciated about our family and friends and made Thanksgiving that much more special!
Happy Thanksgiving! Great ideas to add to your families day to give thanks
